1. Are your Parfums oil based?
Yes, it contains 22% - 25% essential oils, imported from France.
  2. How many different oil ingredients does a Fragrance have?
Fragrances can be composed of 50, 100, or even 1000 ingredients; there is no limit or set amounts. The number of ingredients used does not determine the quality of a Fragrance.
  3. What is the Difference between Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum and Parfum?
These terms refer to the strength of the Fragrance, or more specifically, to how much high grade alcohol and/or water has been added to the Fragrance oils. Parfum (usually the most concentrated form you can buy) typically has 22% - 30% Fragrance oil dissolved in alcohol. Any mixture with a lower proportion of oil to alcohol is an eau (water).

Eau de Cologne:    (3% - 5% perfume oil)
Eau de Toilette: (4% - 8% perfume oil)
Eau de Parfum: (8% - 18% perfume oil)
    PARFUM: (22% - 30% perfume oil)
At INUKA we use international standards to enable us to classify our 30 ml Fragrance products as a Parfum.
  4. Are natural substances better than synthetics?
Not necessarily; synthetics are of equal value to the Parfum. There are extremely expensive natural components and reasonable synthetics and vice versa. Some natural synthetic odour components are more stable than the natural ingredients. Therefore, they are more desirable to the Parfum.
  5. Are any people allergic to your Products?
Not that we are aware of.
  6. Why does Fragrance contain alcohol?
Alcohol makes the Fragrance radiate from your skin. Without alcohol, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any Fragrance at all.
  7. Why do Fragrances smell different on different people?
Everything from diets, skin types, genes, hair colour, stress, hormonal changes, medication and even the lifestyle we lead can have an effect on the way a Fragrance smells on us. PH levels (amount of acidity in our skin) also vary slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH will determine how each ingredient in a Fragrance will react with our skin. People with dry skin usually find their Fragrance lasts a shorter time than those with oily skin, as oily skin has more natural moisture for the Fragrance to cling to. It is important not to purchase a Fragrance because we read about it in a magazine add or smelt it on someone. We have to try it on our own skin to experience how the Fragrance reacts with our own body chemistry.
  8. Does a Fragrance last longer on moist or dry skin?
Fragrances smell at its best when worn on moisturized skin. The warmth of one's body enables the Fragrance to warm thereby releasing its true scent. Without the necessary oils to hold Fragrances it can even misrepresent the true experience of the different notes of the Fragrance. Seal moisture into your skin by applying hand and body lotion before applying your Parfum.
  9. How can I make my Fragrance last longer on my skin?
Fragrances evaporate faster from dry skin. The best way to make a Fragrance last longer is to use a matching Fragranced body lotion or cream. You can also apply Parfum to your hair, which is said to hold scent longer than skin. Also, apply your Fragrance low on the body at the back of your knees, as well as behind your ears and on your neck, so that the scent rises and you won't lose it as quickly. It is also generally applied to your pulse points inside your wrists, elbow areas, inner centre of your arm, shoulders, cleavage, below the adam's apple, behind your ears and torso.
  10. What is Fragrance layering?
Many people define Fragrance layering as using more than one form of the same scent, that is, using the Fragrance over the matching body lotion or Fragrance spritz. What your typical perfumist means by the term is quite different, and involves applying more than one Fragrance at the same time to create an entirely new Fragrance.

Experiment with our affordable Parfums and create your own unique Fragrance, like we did at INUKA with our 6 signature Parfums: Inspire, Engage, Empower, Reward, for Him and for Her.
  11. How do I layer my Fragrances?
Begin your day with a Fragranced bath or shower using our body wash. Next, apply the matching Hand and Body lotion after showering. Then apply your favourite matching Fragrance to your pulse points.

Remember - that applying any Fragrance directly on any material / clothing could spoil it.
  12. Why is it important to change Fragrances according to different seasons, occasions and moods?
Specific Fragrances are more appropriate for summer or daytime wear and other stronger scents would be better for winter or evening wear. A good guideline to follow is to wear lighter scents in the summer and daytime and stronger scents in the winter and evenings. For example: Citrus scents are perfect for summer and daytime while oriental based scents are better for winter and evening wear.
  13. What do top, middle and base notes mean?
Fragrances are described in a musical figure of speech as having three sets of 'notes', making the harmonious scent accord. The notes unfold over time, with the immediate impression of the top note leading to the deeper middle notes, and the base notes gradually appearing as the final stage. These notes are created carefully with knowledge of the evaporation process of the Fragrance.

Top notes: The scents that are perceived immediately on application of a Fragrance are called Top Notes. Top notes consist of small, light molecules that evaporate quickly. They form a person's initial impression of a Fragrance. Top Notes are also referred to as the head notes.

Middle notes: This is when the scent of a Fragrance comes forward just prior to when the top notes dissipate. The middle note compounds form the "heart" or main body of a Fragrance and act to mask the often unpleasant initial impression of base notes, which become more pleasant with time. They are also called the "heart notes".

Base notes: These are the scent of a Fragrance that appears close to the departure of the middle notes. The base and middle notes together are the main theme of a Fragrance. Base notes bring depth and solidity to a Fragrance. Compounds of this class of scents are typically rich and "deep" and are usually not perceived until 30 minutes after application.
  14. How do I find the right Fragrance for myself?
The best way is by testing a Fragrance on your own skin and not making a buying decision when experienced from a piece of paper or someone else's skin. Your true Fragrance experience will emerge as it uniquely develops with the ph-balance of your own skin.
  15. How much, and what type of Fragrance should I wear?
Less is better. Your Fragrance should never dominate you; rather re-apply after a few hours. A light fresh floral Fragrance is always suitable for spring and summer seasons. Increased body temperature will also increase the smell experience of a Fragrance as the scent becomes stronger. During autumn and winter the opposite happens. Build your Fragrance wardrobe. Choose Fragrances to suit your moods and the occasions.
  16. How many Fragrances can I try without becoming numbed?
A variety of different Fragrance types is less fatiguing to the sense of smell. When Fragrances are very different you can try 5 to 6; but when they are similar, only 2 to 3. Heavier scents tire your nose more quickly so when sampling always begin with lighter scents.
  17. Why can't I smell my Fragrance after I have worn it for a while?
After a few days of using the same Fragrance you become used to it and may not be able to smell the scent as well anymore. The scent is still there and can be smelt by others. A good idea is to build your own Fragrance wardrobe with different Fragrances so that you can alternate between seasons, moods, occasions, day and evening wear. Using more than one Fragrance for different reasons and seasons will eliminate this problem.
  18. Can a Fragrance influence moods?
Yes, research shows that about 75% of our emotions are generated by what we smell. Use your favourite Fragrance to uplift your mood, spirit or to set a romantic aura around yourself. You also might want to wear a different Fragrance from Boardroom to Bedroom.
  19. Can spicy food affect the scent of a Parfum?
No, the scent of a Parfum does not change. Spicy food can change the odour of the skin, thereby affecting the overall odour effect of a Parfum.
  20. Why am I not aware of my Fragrance after I have worn it for awhile?
The sense of smell becomes quickly fatigued. After a period of smelling a Fragrance you become used to it and may not be able to smell the scent. The scent is still there and is very strong for others.
  21. Can Fragrances leave stains on clothes?
It is not recommended to spray Fragrances directly on clothes because some fabrics may stain. Always apply your Fragrance Products before dressing.
  22. Where and how can I apply my Fragrance?
Apply directly to your pulse points: Inside the wrist, behind the ears, at the temples, the back of the neck and the cleavage area. Fragrances rise, so don't overlook your legs, knees, thighs, feet and ankles.
  23. Should a Fragrance be dabbed or sprayed?
This depends on your personal preference. Spraying gives a more even distribution. When dabbed, drops of Parfum can go to waste. PLEASE NOTE that one should never rub a Parfum.
  24. How can I preserve my Fragrance and how long does it keep?
A Fragrance can keep its scent and potency for years, although the color may change. Don't assume that that means the quality of the Fragrance has changed: Parfum is a living substance whose raw ingredients are constantly evolving. Certain storage conditions will ensure the lasting quality of the Fragrance: The ideal storage conditions are room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Do not place near extreme heat or light. Extreme heat may cause a Fragrance to oxidize, to change colour or change its smell. When transporting your Fragrances, keep them in a cool place to prevent exposure to excessive heat. Heat builds quickly inside a vehicle. Liquids expand and contract with temperature changes. Excessive heat may cause the bottles to break.
  25. What does the term "Fragrance life" mean?
The composition of a Fragrance is of many different ingredients, each of which varies in scent and staying power. Different ingredients come to life at different stages.
  26. Is there any benefit to storing Fragrances in a refrigerator?
No, the ideal storage condition for Fragrances is room temperature.
  27. Can a Fragrance spoil?
Yes. When a Fragrance becomes thick, its colour changes drastically, and there is a sour smell upon opening, this means the Fragrance has deteriorated.
  28. Are INUKA Fragrances and Fragranced products tested on animals?
No. INUKA Fragrances and Fragranced products have not been tested on animals in any way whatsoever.
  29. Does Inuka Fragrances have a Return Policy?
At INUKA we offer a simple, yet powerful 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee: If a Consumer / Customer is not happy with his/her purchase it may be returned to their INUKA Business Member who will either refund or exchange the product for such a Consumer / Customer.
  30. How does the quality of the INUKA Products compare to the original branded products?
INUKA Products uses the same quality ingredients as the original branded products. The oils used in our products are created by respected perfumery companies in France with centuries of experience and expertise and are at the forefront of technology to set new popular trends.
  31. How is it possible for INUKA Fragrances to offer such high quality products at such an affordable price?
In our opinion there are many reasons for the high cost of branded Fragrances. Advertising, packaging, and the type of distribution channels used by Fragrance Manufacturers' account for most of the cost. By eliminating the fancy packaging, the high cost of advertising and marketing our Fragrances directly to the consumer our INUKA Consumers can enjoy the experience of a quality Fragrance at an affordable price. After all, you wear the Fragrance, not the expensive components.
  32. What about patents, intellectual property, trademarks and copyrights?
Perfumes are not patentable and there are thus no patented Fragrances in the world because they are not a "new and useful process, machine, manufacture, or composition of matter". However, the composition of the perfume (that is, the list of ingredients used to make a particular Fragrance) is patentable. Most perfumers intentionally do not patent their Fragrances because getting a patent requires disclosing everything about the "invention". Few perfumers would want to disclose how to make their special perfumes.

However other types of intellectual property protection are available. For example, the perfume bottle and the name of the scent can be trademarked if they have not been used before.

To develop and sell Fragrances and Fragranced products that are inspired by a "smell" are therefore legal. Although INUKA use Fragrance compounds that are of the same quality to those of the original branded Fragrances we recognize that we need to respect their trademarks. INUKA uniquely bottle, brand and price our products in such a way to avoid any similarities or resemblance to that of the designer brands so that consumers could it no way become confused into believing that they are purchasing the branded product.
  33. Do you offer any other sizes in bottles?
    No, not at this stage.
